11 months and 1 to go!

It's amazing to think that in one month our baby is going to be a one year old! God help us! We have been super busy around the house planting, seeding, laying sod, watering, watering, and more watering! We organized the garage more, but there is still more to go on that. What a project... just when you think you've made progress you turn around and there's more. Ugh!

Last weekend we went to G's dad's birthday party. It was a HUGE success! Lots of family and friends came to celebrate his 65th birthday and what a good time! K liked dancing to the music and playing with the red ball! We enjoyed meeting new people and catching up with family. The day couldn't have been a nicer day- the weather was beautiful- 75 and partly sunny with a cool breeze! It's doesn't get much better than that around here in the summer! We all chuckled a little when we saw that G's dad had the same looking shirt as G had on that day! Like father, like son! Between the times we went up to help out and the party, K made a new friend. J was so nice and playful with K- it was hard for her not to love her! Next weekend we are going to St. Louis to visit M's sister and brother-in-law. We are looking forward to getting away and some R&R! Hopefully I'll get some photos of the house up soon!

Father's Day Weekend!

We couldn't wait to update the blog! We had the best time this weekend! Saturday we went up to the Chicago Museum of Science and Industry. There we all participated in the C.S.I. Experience exhibit. We solved the crime without a hitch. Blood splatters, fingerprints, scene evidence, the autopsy and DNA matching were just some of the items we had to put together to solve the crime. Then we walked around the museum to other exhibits and then lastly did the Coal Mine Tour. We are just glad that we are not coal miners! Way too dark and too shallow of a work environment. That evening we walked to Giordano's Pizzeria and had the famous stuff crust!
I think K liked it just was much as we did!

Saturday night we watched the Navy Pier fireworks from our hotel room window. Beautiful! K slept through the whole thing- maybe next time. We found that K loved to look out the hotel window (on the 32nd floor!) and just stare out at all the fascinating things around us! Sunday morning we walked around the city a bit and took in all the scenery. It's such a magnificent city! We then headed to Millennium Park. It finished construction in 2005 and cost an estimated 500,000,000 buckaroos!
We took lots of pictures by the "bean" and at the water walls. K enjoyed stomping through the water between the water walls and watching her reflection.

After a brief morning nap, K treated Daddy to a Father's Day Brunch Cruise on Lake Michigan. We were lucky enough to get a window seat and take in all the Chicago views from the lake. K loved oohing and ahhing at the sail boats and watching the waves out the window.
The brunch and entertainment was outstanding!
Definitely would do it again for a special occasion.
After the cruise and brief spin on Navy Pier we headed home. We had Father's Day dinner with M's mom and dad and brother and sister-in-law. It was a nice dinner and good company! K was quite the lover with grandma and grandpa as well as Aunt C and Uncle P! Once Aunt C gave her some lovin's and a good piece of bread it was all over! :)
Now G has to go back to work and M and K are going to pick up Molly (our golden retriever) tomorrow. Molly was on vacation too at the farm (M's parent's house) for the past week and a half. They were nice enough to watch her last weekend while we were in WI and this weekend while we were livin' up Chicago! K sure does miss her buddy and will be happy to see her again!

Beach bum to Cow tails and more!

What a wild and crazy week it's been! M's niece and nephews came last week.
The weather was nice and we were able to go bike riding and to the beach.

While her cousins played in Lake Michigan, K spent her time in the stroller. She wasn't a big fan of the cold water or the sand. She was happy as could be in her stroller watching kids run by and watching the birds swoop down to pick up specs of food from other visitors.
When we weren't bike riding or at the beach K's cousins were playing with her a lot. Naturally K loved all the extra attention from her new roommates.

One of G's coworkers found out that K has become a big fan of Elmo and sent a Chiken Dance Elmo to K. Here she is dancing with it and a baby wipe. She is a trip! M found this Rocking Zebra at a garage sale for a steal and K loves to ride it and screetch to her own tune! We were amazed to find that she can get off the zebra on her own.
Last week Aunt M gave K a brief driving lesson. This is quite humorous being that a few days later Aunt M clipped a deer with that very vehicle and totaled it- the car and the deer. She is fine from the accident and when Aunt M felt bad about possibly killing Bambi's mom, her son reminded her that she probably allowed for some very hungry baby coyotes to have a meal. Kids are quick! I'm not sure if I will take Aunt M up on anymore driving lessons for K though!
Friday Aunt H and I took all the kids to Fair Oaks Farm. What an experience! We had a great time. It's a dairy farm with thousands upon thousands of cattle. We went on a tour of their operation which was mind blowing! (They milk about 50 cows at a time!) Then we had lunch at the cafe. As you expect we had grilled cheeses and quesadillas. Then the kids played on the playground and from there we saw a light that told us a calf was about to be born. So we went to the birthing barn and saw a baby calf born. Amazing! The kids had some amusing comments about that whole experience that I don't think I can share. Before we left we ate some ice cream and then we went home after a long and entertaining day!
This past weekend we went up to WI to help G's dad get ready for his big birthday party in a couple of weeks! G and his brother were able to help with numerous "handy-andy" projects and K helped Aunt E and mommy redecorate a bathroom. ( I forgot to use my flash!) We shopped for new things and then added our touches to this and that. K had her first experience with spaghetti! She liked playing with it and throwing it and then laughing!
K and her grandpa were quite the buddies! She would sit and play with him on the front porch, babble at him to get back to work, showed him her climbing abilities and ate his strawberries! We all had a good time and bonded as we did fun projects! We are excited to go back to the party in a few weeks!
Now we are just recooperating from a long week! This weekend coming up is Father's Day weekend and K and mommy have something up their sleeve for G. You'll have to wait to find out next week!

Great Weekend! And feeling much better!

We went down to Indy this weekend to celebrate our good friend's baby boy's first birthday! It was so much fun to watch him and K play together and interact in only a way that they understand. Several times we would catch him pulling on the few strands of hair that K does have. We would be like "don't pull! She has worked so hard for that one!" Someday in the far future, K will have a full head of hair to brush and braid. K's little friend's birthday was all dec'd out in Elmo and it all looked great! She is very fond of his Elmo chair- this is where she sat to play his piano and lean back for a fresh bottle. She also tried to figure out how their safety equipment worked and was bound to get the darn thing off. We also had a short time on Sunday to catch up with some neighbors and chit chat! Thanks again A and K for letting us stay at your place! You are VERY hospitable!
Thanks to those of you who were actually concerned about us and followed up in asking how we were feeling. We are both feeling much better and done with our antibiotics (which is a relief in itself!) I guess for some people we might have to send copies of our medical bills to prove just how sick we were and maybe even have references- but that's another can of worms that you considerate friends and family don't need to hear about!
Next week we'll have pictures posted from our trip to WI! We post-poned our trip to St. Louis to July for now. It works out better for both parties! We'll post again soon!
